If you want to creat a appliqué embroidery, usually you should use the following process to run the tape:

1). Run Cutting stitches. So we need the position to place the appliqué.

2). Stop and place the appliqué.

3). Run Zig-zag stitches, and hold down the appliqué.

4). Stop and trim the appliqué.

5). Run satin stitches, and hold down the appliqué.

For some orders, there are only four steps as shown above. But sometimes we need to sew another satin stitch to cover the zig zag stitch, for a better appearance , so you can see the fifth step as shown above.
